SUPPORT Step One School

Step One School places a significant value on attracting and maintaining a student body of children with diverse backgrounds and means. Over six percent of the school's 2007/2008 school year budget is designated for financial aid, this year totaling more than $110,000 to assist roughly 17% of the school's 125 students.  See here for more details on the budget. The school has a long standing commitment to assisting students for whom the cost of tuition would otherwise be prohibitive.

This year we are striving to achieve 100% participation in the Annual Scholarship Campaign and have a financial goal of $50,000.  Last year we reached 92% participation with an average gift per family of $325 which provides a strong statement to granting entities that provide other funding sources for the school’s activities.  Please consider making a tax deductible investment in our community and thank you for all of your contributions to our community!

Credit card
You can now give directly to Step One via credit card through justgive.org. Just click the button below and you will be taken to the Giving Basket page where you can make a donation to Step One.

Securities, Stock and other Property
Gifts of common stock allow donors to claim the fair market value of appreciated securities at the time the gift is made.  For instructions on how to transfer your stock, contact  Tina at 510-527-9021 ext. 12 or tina@steponeschool.org

Matching Gifts
If you participate in your company's matching gift program, your gift to the school could be doubled or more. Obtain a matching gift form from your company, complete it, and return it to Tina at the school offices.

Planned Giving

Step One has gone electronic with its Scrip program! We encourage all of our school supporters to register their grocery loyalty cards, credit and debit cards with the eScrip program. Step One receives a monthly rebate based on the purchases made by our registered participants. The fund raising potential is extraordinary! It takes less than two minutes to register. You can register online by clicking the button below and typing in Step One School to start the registration. You can also download a mail-in form or pick up a pre-printed form in the office.  For more information about the eScrip program please visit www.escrip.com.

United Way Designation
