Step One School - TUITION Policies

  • Regular tuition is to be paid monthly in the amount indicated on your tuition contract. If you are in doubt about your bill, ask Stacey or Tina. Monthly tuition is the same each month, even December and August, which are short months.
  • You will receive a statement of your tuition account in your child's parent pocket every month. The statement is to keep you up to date on all charges and credits to your account.
  • Tuition must be paid on or before the third business day of each month. If your family is experiencing financial difficulties that affect your ability to pay tuition on time, please let us know as soon as possible.
  • A $10.00 fee will be charged for all returned checks. If we receive two or more tuition payment checks which are drawn on insufficient funds, we will require all further payments to be made in cash or with a cashier's check or money order.
  • If tuition is late, the following steps will be followed:
    • A fee of $10.00 will be automatically be added to your next month's bill and a reminder letter will be put in the classroom parent pocket.
    • If full tuition is not paid 14 days after the due date, a warning letter will be sent.
    • If full tuition is not paid 21 days after the due date, a phone call will be made by a Step One staff or Board member, urging immediate payment. A payment plan and addendum to the tuition agreement may be implemented at this time.
    • If full tuition is not paid 35 days after the due date, a second phone call will be made. If the 35 days falls within May of any given year, a creditor may be employed as well. A payment plan and addendum to the tuition agreement may be implemented at this time.
    • If full tuition is not paid 90 days after the due date, the account may be referred to a creditor. The parent(s) will be responsible for the unpaid tuition plus any fees the creditor applies.
    • If full tuition is not paid 120 days after the due date, Step One may dismiss the child and bill the parent(s) for the entire term. The family will not be able to enroll their child or any siblings in Step One until the account has been paid in full.
